A modern international curriculum based on the UK model
We are a British-style international school following an English curriculum carefully adapted to meet the needs of a diverse student body.
Curriculum details
Our core curriculum is the English National Curriculum. The EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum) is used for the 3 to 5 year olds, and the Primary Curriculum for Years 1 to 6.
We supplement this with the International Primary Curriculum (IPC), and the International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC) for our youngest students.
All students also study Arabic Language, Islamic Studies and Qatar History.
See below for more details on each of these elements of our curriculum.
Structure of Year Groups
As a Primary School, our children range in age from 3 to 11 years of age.
The norm for UK National Curriculum schools is to group classes into Early Years, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. However, because we use the IPC curriculum we choose to use their naming convention of Mileposts, which is slightly different:
Milepost | Age | Year group | Equivalent Key Stage |
---|---|---|---|
Foundation Stage | 3 - 4 | FS1 | Early Years |
Foundation Stage | 4 - 5 | FS2 | Early Years |
Milepost 1 | 5 - 6 | Year 1 | Key Stage 1 |
Milepost 1 | 6 - 7 | Year 2 | Key Stage 1 |
Milepost 2 | 7 - 8 | Year 3 | Key Stage 2 |
Milepost 2 | 8 - 9 | Year 4 | Key Stage 2 |
Milepost 3 | 9 - 10 | Year 5 | Key Stage 2 |
Milepost 3 | 10 - 11 | Year 6 | Key Stage 2 |
